Travel itinerary

Day 1 - Italy/Tirana/Podgorica (km 190)
Arrival at Tirana airport. Meeting with our guide, settling into a reserved vehicle and start of this wonderful journey with destination Podgorica. Before reaching the border with Montenegro, stop at a renowned farm for lunch. On the way to Podgorica, stop in the hills of Sipcanic for a visit to a renowned winery whose cellars are located inside the tunnels of a former military base. Arrival in Podgorica. Accommodation in a hotel. Lunch, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2 - Podgorica/Biogradgksa Gora/Canyon Tara/Zabljak (km 200)
Morning dedicated to visiting Podgorica, the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ, of great architectural and artistic value, stands out. We continue on to the Moraca Valley, Tito's favourite, an evocative route that winds through a narrow gorge where the Moraca River flows, until we reach Kolasin, where the Biogradska Gora National Park begins, the splendid Biogradasko Lake (230,00 m2) surrounded by a rainforest, one of the few in Europe. An easy and atmospheric trek (duration approx. 2 hours) in this nature reserve, which is home to dozens of plants and hundreds of species of animals. Our day ends in the valley of the Tara River, famous for its canyon, considered the deepest in Europe, and home to adrenalin sports enthusiasts, with the possibility of trying the "flight of the angel" (zip line). Arrival in Zabljak, at the foot of Mount Durmitor, accommodation in a hotel and dinner. Lunch, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3 - Zabljak/Monastero Ostrog/Budva (km 230)
We begin with the Black Lake, at the foot of the Durmitor National Park (UNESCO World Heritage Site) surrounded by pine and fir forests. It is a wonderful glacial lake that forms the very heart of the park. We continue on to Zminje Jezero, the Lake of Snakes. Then on to Ostrog for a visit to one of the most important monasteries in Montenegro, dedicated to St Basil of Ostrog, a Serbian bishop and theologian known for his miracles, a destination for thousands of pilgrims of all religions. It is characterised by its unique architecture as it is carved into the rock overlooking the Zeta valley, creating a place of great visual impact. Transfer to Boka Kotorska Bay, a beautiful bay characterised by inlets that create a striking coastal landscape. Arrival in the elegant town of Budva, accommodation in a hotel and time at leisure to enjoy the picturesque old town. Lunch, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4 - Budva/Kotor/Njegusi/Cetinje/Budva (km 95)
A day dedicated to visiting Montenegro's main historical monuments, starting with Kotor, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, considered one of the most beautiful of the eastern Adriatic with its charming old town and the Catholic Cathedral of St Tryphon, the seat of the Kotor diocese. You will reach the Island of Scarpello by boat; according to local tradition, the islet was created over the centuries by local sailors after the Mortešić[ brothers found an image of a Madonna and Child on that rock in 1452. Once brought to the
church of St Nicholas of Perasto magically disappeared during the night and was found again on the same rock at Scarpello. The locals therefore decided to build a shrine there and, on returning from each sea voyage, it was customary to throw a rock into the bay; this custom still survives today. Returning to Kotor, we travel along the road called the serpentine road to Njegusi, a famous centre for ham and cheese production. The day ends in Cetinje, where we will visit the Royal Palace associated with Queen Helena. Return to Budva. Lunch, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5 - Budva/Sv Stefano/Stari Bar/Ulqini (km 100)
Departure for Stari Bar, known as Old Antivari. On the way, a photo stop at the beautiful village of St Stephen. Visit to Stari Bar. The first settlement dates back to the 7th century B.C., destroyed by the Romans during the invasion of Dalmatia in the 3rd century, rebuilt by the Byzantines seven centuries later and finally became a Venetian and Turkish citadel. Between 1443 and 1571, Old Antivari was ruled by the city of Venice, which, however, gave it a large degree of autonomy and allowed it to continue to mint money and administer justice. This period was
particularly prosperous and rich trade relations with Italy. In 1571, the city was invaded by the Turks, who turned many churches into mosques and disrupted the city's urban layout. Their occupation lasted until 1870 when King Nicholas' army managed to liberate it. The tour continues towards Ada Bojana, the mouth of the Buna River, the second largest tributary of the Adriatic Sea, with the possibility of a short boat ride and relaxation on the beach at Ulqini. Lunch, dinner and overnight stay

Day 6 - Ulqini/Scutari/Mrizi i Zanave/Kruja (km 140)
A tour of the old town of Ulqini and the Balshaj Tower. Known as Dulcigno, it is located in the southernmost part of Dalmatia and boasts ancient origins, having been founded around the 5th century BC by the Illyrians. It was later a Roman and Byzantine centre and then an Episcopal seat. In the Middle Ages it was conquered by the South Slavs, the Venetian Republic and finally, in 1578, by the Ottomans. Today, Dulcinj is a popular tourist destination both for its enchanting beaches and delightful medieval old town. After the visit, the journey will continue to Shkodra, an important centre in northern Albania known as the 'Rome of Albania', for a guided walk around the pedestrian zone and lunch, before continuing on to Kruja, stronghold of the legendary hero George Castriotta known as Scanderbeg and a city that symbolises anti-Ottoman resistance. Free time before dinner to wander around the picturesque bazaar and discover typical Albanian handicrafts. Lunch, dinner and overnight

Day 7 - Kruja/Tirana/Italy (km 70)
Morning dedicated to visiting the Scanderbeg Museum (or alternatively the Ethnographic Museum). The Scanderbeg Museum is dedicated to George Castriota Scanderbeg and is housed within his famous castle and the restored adjoining bazaar. The historical citadel, which was attacked by Ottoman troops three times, also includes a restored house from the Ottoman era that is now home to the ethnographic museum. After lunch, depending on the departure time of the flight, a guided tour of the beautiful historic centre of the Albanian capital, Tirana, before transfer to the airport in time for boarding.
