A complete itinerary, full of extraordinary contrasts. From the museums of the capital, to the coffee zone, to Medellin, symbol of Colombia's transformation, to Cartagena, the pearl of the Caribbean, and finally, a day at the beach in the beautiful Rosario Islands.

Day 1: ITALY - BOGOTÁ

Departure from Italy on an intercontinental scheduled flight to Bogotá with a change of aircraft in Paris. Arrival in the late afternoon. Transfer and accommodation in a hotel. Dinner. Overnight stay.

 

Day 2: GUADAVITA LAGOON - ZIPAQUIRA SALT CATHEDRAL

In the morning visit to the beautiful Guadavita Lagoon and in the afternoon to the Zipaquirà Salt Cathedral, a unique piece of engineering dug deep into a salt mine that has now been transformed into a place of worship and artistic installations. Lunch in a restaurant during the excursion. Return to Bogotá. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: BOGOTA - PEREIRA

Full day sightseeing in Bogotá: walk through the historical city centre visiting the Candelaria, Plaza Bolivar where the Cathedral, the Capilla del Sagrario, the Capitolio, the Palace of Justice and the Liévano building are located. FREE lunch. Continuation to visit the Botero Museum with the great artist's most famous works and the Museo de Oro, which houses the world's largest collection of gold artefacts from pre-Columbian times. Afterwards transfer to the airport and departure on a flight to Pereira. Arrival, transfer and accommodation at the hotel. Dinner. Overnight stay.

Day 4: COCORA VALLEY - FILANDIA - SALENTO

Full-day excursion to the picturesque village of Filandia with its characteristic 'antioquena' architecture and basket-making and to the Cocora Valley. Located within the Los Nevados National Park, it is the ideal place to observe the 'Quindio palm' (ceroxylon quindiuenese), which can reach a height of up to 60 metres. After reaching the park by jeep, a walk through beautiful landscapes. Afterwards return to Pereira with a stop to visit Salento, a small village located on the slopes of the Cocora Valley, characterised by old, brightly-coloured houses dating back to the colony. FREE lunch. Return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: COFFEE ZONE - MEDELLIN

Visit to a coffee producing Hacienda to observe the plantations and the production system, from the harvest to the final product. In Colombia, the coffee harvest takes place all year round, but the months with the highest production are October, May and June. Mainly the Arabica variety is grown in the area, which produces a delicate and light coffee known throughout the world. FREE lunch. In the afternoon, transfer to the airport and departure for Medellin Accommodation in a hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: MEDELLIN

Full-day visit to the city of Medellin, modern, lively and fun, now a symbol of Colombia's transformation after the dark years of drug trafficking. FREE lunch. We will learn about the past, present and transformation of this fascinating metropolis. Visit to Comuna 13 with its famous murals. Finally, arrival at La Plazoleta located in the city centre, which houses 23 sculptures by Fernando Botero donated by the famous artist in 2000. Return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7 - 8: MEDELLIN - CARTAGENA

Morning dedicated to a walk through the historic centre of Cartagena with a visit to the Bolivar Park where the Museo de Oro displays a collection of pre-Hispanic archaeological objects and the Palace of the Inquisition. Onwards to the Church of Santo Domingo, the Cathedral and the Museo de las Fortificaciones. FREE lunch. Afternoon free for shopping in the markets and quietly enjoying this beautiful city. Dinner. Overnight stay.

Day 9: CARTAGENA - ISLANDS OF ROSARIO - CARTAGENA

Full-day excursion to the Rosario Islands, a coral archipelago comprising some 27 islands, with crystal-clear waters and the only underwater park in Colombia. Lunch in a restaurant. Return to Cartagena. Goodbye dinner in a restaurant (within walking distance of the hotel). Overnight stay.

Day 10: DEPARTURE FROM CARTAGENA

A few more free hours to spend in this fantastic city and time for some final shopping. FREE lunch. Transfer to the airport. Departure on a direct intercontinental flight to Amsterdam. Meals and overnight on board.

Day 11: ARRIVAL IN ITALY
Arrival in Amsterdam and onwards to Milan Malpensa. End of the Journey.
