Oman Fly & Drive Tour

Day 1: MUSCAT (-/-/-)
Departure from Italy with scheduled flights operated by Oman Air, Turkish Airlines or another IATA carrier.
Arrival at Muscat International Airport and clear customs formalities, collect your luggage and meet your guide/representative in the arrivals area for the transfer to the hotel. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 2: MUSCAT (B/-/-) (110 KM)
Breakfast at the hotel. Meeting with our representative, who will hand over the rental vehicle, provide you with a map of the country, and give you valuable information about the car.
We recommend that you start discovering the country by visiting the city of Muscat. Muscat offers the opportunity to experience a modern centre for trade in harmony with cultural tradition. With its natural harbour, Muscat means 'port', and the city centre is surrounded by rocky mountains, the location is unique. Visits to the Grand Mosque (Open daily from 08.00 to 11.0, except Fridays and during public holidays. Clothing: Both men and women must cover their arms and legs. Women must also cover their heads with a headscarf. Children under the age of 10 are not allowed in the mosque) and the Bait Al Zubair Museum (closed on Fridays) trace the past history of Oman and its development. Drive along the Cornice waterfront before visiting the Fish Market and the colourful Muttrah Souq. Stop to photograph the magnificent Al Alam Palace; flanked by the 16th century Portuguese forts of Jalali and Mirani. Free meals.

Day 3: MUSCAT - BILAT SAYT - JABEL SHAMS (300 KM) (B/-/D)
After breakfast, check out to explore the Batinah coast and the local Barka market. After a short tour of this market, visit the Nakhl Fort (ticket not included). This fort was once served by the Imam Bani Kharous and Ya'arubah dynasties. The recent renovation of the building has allowed the original features to be rediscovered. The old village of Nakhl is located near the fort, nestled in an attractive oasis. Relax by the warm shallow waters of the famous Nakhl springs. Continue with your vehicle towards the western part of the Hajjar Mountains. The journey continues through Wadi Bani Awf (you must have a good 4×4 vehicle for this stretch and also be a good driver. Instead of doing this off road you can take the tarmac road to Al Hamra) until you reach the village of Bilad Sait. Free lunch on the way and proceed to Al Hamra. Finally we head towards the highest mountain in Oman, Jebal Shams, where we will spend the night. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 4: JABEL SHAMS - MISFAH - AL HAMRA - BAHLA - JIBREEN - NIZWA (B/-/-) (200KM)
Breakfast at the hotel, release your room and depart in the direction of Misfah Al Abrieyeen to visit the village. The journey continues to Al Hamra. Take a walk through the ancient village and admire the old houses made of mud that were home to several generations before being abandoned. After this visit, we drive to Bahla for a photo stop at the famous Bahla Fort, which is on the UNESCO list. From here we continue on to Jibreen Castle, famous for its Arabic inscriptions and paintings. After this visit we proceed in the direction of Nizwa where we stay overnight.

Day 5: NIZWA - BIRKAT AL MAUZ - IBRA - WAHIBA (280 KM) (B/-/D)
Breakfast at the hotel, check out and visit the Nizwa Fort (ticket not included) and the traditional Souq. From here, drive to Birkat Al Mauz to visit the oasis and continue on to Ibra. Visit the market in Ibra before proceeding to the desert. Arrival at the Mintrib Shell petrol station and meeting with the camp representative at a pre-arranged time, who will escort you to the tented camp Arrival and check in at the camp. Dinner and overnight.

Day 6: WAHIBA - WADI BANI KHALID- RAS AL HADD (200 KM) (B/-/D)
After breakfast, check out and depart for Wadi Bani Khalid. Here you can enjoy a nice swim in the cool waters of the natural pools. Later, we arrive in Ras Al Hadd. Arrival and check-in at the hotel.
After dinner, we recommend a trip to the Ras Al Jinz Turtle Reserve to admire the turtles that come to this beach at night (ticket not included). Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 7: RAS AL HADD- SUR - WADI TIWI - BIMAH SINKHOLE- MUSCAT (260 KM) (B/-/-)
After breakfast, depart in your vehicle to Sur for a short visit of the town, once a trade bridge between the Arabian Peninsula and South East Asia, colonised by the Portuguese in the 14th century, today a quiet fishing town and factory of dhows (ancient Omani boats) The journey continues to Wadi Tiwi to visit the village. Afterwards we proceed to Fins Beach and later stop at Bimmah Sinkhole one of the most beautiful sinkholes in Oman. According to legend founded by a shooting star falling from the sky, more likely formed by wind erosion which caused the roof to fall in this natural pool; today this crystal-clear sinkhole is a good 40 metres in diameter. After the stop continue on to Muscat
Arrival in the evening and check in at the hotel Release the rental vehicle. Overnight stay in Muscat.

Day 8: MUSCAT
Departure on scheduled flights to Italy. Arrival in Italy.
