Welcome to Alta, located above the Arctic Circle. Alta lies at the junction of the sea and a plateau. Since the Stone Age, this geographical area has been a meeting place for various indigenous groups. They have built their common history and future on dominating the harsh Arctic environment. Here you can experience the Arctic way of life and take part in a winter adventure between powdery snow and open sea under the Northern Lights.

TRAVEL PROGRAMME:
Day 1: THURSDAY - MILAN LINATE/ALTA
Meeting of Participants at Milan Linate Airport. Departure by scheduled flight to Alta, via Frankfurt. On arrival, at 1.40 pm, meeting with the local Italian-speaking assistant and reserved transfer to the hotel. Time at disposal. Welcome dinner in a restaurant and overnight stay.
Day 2: FRIDAY - HIGH - HUSKY SLEEVING EXCURSION
Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning, transfer to the Holmen Husky centre and excursion with an Italian-speaking local guide in a husky sleigh (approx. 2 ½ hours)
Arrival at Holmen Husky where you will receive the necessary clothing for the dog sledding experience. Safety instruction and introduction on how to run an Alaskan husky team.
A 1-hour dog sledding experience in a pristine winter landscape. On your return to Holmen Husky you will have the chance to help with the dogs, and thank them for the ride
giving them lots of cuddles. The guide will prepare a fire and snacks in the Lavvo and tell you all about life with huskies. Free afternoon. In the evening, possibility to participate in a snowmobile excursion in search of the Northern Lights (optional - extra charge)
SAFARI BY MOTORCYCLE for SIGHTING THE NORTHERN LIGHTS - Duration: approx. 4 hours
Transfer 25 km from Alta; on arrival, you will be introduced to your expert guide who will give you a briefing on the hike. Equipped with thermal suits, boots and gloves, you will be fully
prepared for your next adventure in search of the lights of the North. Snowmobile excursion with two people per snowmobile (B licence required): you will enter the Arctic tundra
reaching beautiful plateaus and pristine areas. At the end, return to Alta.

Day 3: SATURDAY - HIGH - AURORA BOREALE SIGHTING EXCURSION
Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning, possibility to participate in the SAMI farm excursion, reindeer herding and reindeer sleigh ride (optional - at extra charge)
SAMI FARM VISIT, HISTORY, CULTURE AND REINDEER SLEIGH RIDE
Lavvu is a traditional Sámi tent that has been used by this people for generations and adapted to the nomadic lifestyle and climate of the north. In a cosy atmosphere, around the fire,
you will find peace to discover the Sámi culture. Local guides will take you into the Sami way of life and give you a cultural experience through their stories about traditions. You can
experience the power of joik (traditional singing) and see and hear traditional handmade clothes. At the end you will experience a reindeer sleigh ride. Sit in the sleigh and
enjoy the tour around the farm.

The anticipation grows as you prepare to witness the fascinating spectacle in the night sky. To enhance your experience, your guide will provide you with tea or coffee together
to delicious snacks, ensuring your comfort as you soak in the majestic spectacle. At the end of the celestial show, we return to the city centre, where the journey began. Although the guides will try to reveal the Northern Lights to you, it is important to note that these natural phenomena are beyond our control and sightings are subject to the vagaries of nature.

Day 4 SUNDAY - ALTA/MILAN LINATE MUSEUM
Breakfast at the hotel. Visit to the Alta Museum
The Alta Museum offers indoor exhibitions and an outdoor area. The museum is open all year round, while the outdoor rock art is only available in the summer. Rock art in Alta is one of the
eight must-see attractions in Norway on the UNESCO World Heritage list, consisting of rock carvings and paintings, the oldest more than 7000 years old.
