Detail Half-Day Excursions:
Dun Laoghaire Village & Harbour:
Du n Laoghaire was once a quiet fishing village that became, in Victorian times, a popular and pretty seaside resort on the glittering south coast of Dublin Bay. The harbour is home to large ships and numerous yacht clubs, of which the Royal St. George's and the Royal Irish are the oldest. Strolling by George's
Street Upper, one of its oldest streets, passing by the Sacred Heart Oratory (1919) to the Windsor Terrace bathing establishment (1843), you can admire the harbour, the railway station and various buildings all in Victorian style, still perfectly preserved.
Dublinia Viking Experience:
Dublinia Viking Experience will take you on a journey into the past, to the time of the Vikings, where you will discover what life was like on board a Viking warship, look at weapons and learn the skills of being a Viking warrior. Try on clothes, become a slave and walk down a noisy street. Visit a Viking house
smoky and cramped and discover the myths and mysteries surrounding the Vikings and their legacy.
GAA Museum:
Located inside the 82,300-seat Croke Park stadium, the GAA Museum is a must for sports fans and anyone interested in Irish culture and is dedicated to Gaelic games and the role of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) in Irish life. Exhibits, audiovisual displays and interactive areas introduce visitors to Gaelic football and hurling, a fast-paced game played with a hurley (stick) and a sliotar (ball).
National Gallery:
Tucked away in Dublin's elegant Georgian quarter, the National Gallery of Ireland is an oasis of peace and culture in the heart of the city. The silent galleries house numerous works by some of the world's greatest artists, including Rembrandt, Monet and Picasso. Since it opened its doors in 1864, the National Gallery has been a place of refuge and inspiration for many of Ireland's greatest creative minds: playwright Samuel Beckett and poet WB Yeats regularly sought solitude here. The National Gallery's collection includes over
16,000 works of art covering the history of Western European culture from 1300 to the present day.
Full-day excursion detail:
Kilkenny Castle & City:
With its imposing appearance, opulent interiors and Italianate gardens, Kilkenny Castle is one of Ireland's most visited attractions. For over 800 years, the castle has dominated the city of Kilkenny from the banks of the River Nore. Its imposing towers tower above the city, creating a fairy-tale atmosphere, and its majestic façade conceals a surprisingly luxurious interior.
overflowing with treasures collected over the centuries. Kilkenny perfectly combines small-town charm and big-city vibrancy. In the heart of Ireland's Ancient East, just 90 minutes from Dublin, this is a place full of curious characters, great music and an electrifying atmosphere.
Wicklow & Glendalough:
Charming Wicklow has an interesting history, having been founded in the 8th century by the Vikings. The ruins of the Black Castle overlook the harbour and are a reminder of the Norman invasion, but the main attraction remains the famous Wicklow Gaol. The resort is also popular with those who love or dream of golf, surfing, kayaking or just relaxing walks. Other special features of Wicklow lie in its handicraft culture, people who made their homes from the art of pottery, from the
weaving, sheepskin or glass and jewellery making. Tucked away amidst the lush vegetation of the Wicklow Mountains National Park lies Glendalough, one of the pearls
of Ireland's Ancient East. Its name in Irish means 'the valley of the two lakes', the Upper Lake and the Lower Lake, particularly popular with tourists. Close to these two beautiful lakes is the monastic site of Glendalough, one of Ireland's most atmospheric, completely surrounded by nature.
