Located in the southern part of England and made famous by the stories of Geoffrey Chaucer, Canterbury is a beautiful medieval town in the county of Kent.
The symbol of the city is the Cathedral of the same name, which is particularly famous, apart from its architecture, for the murder of Archbishop Thomas Beckett and has been a major pilgrimage destination in Europe ever since.
The Cathedral is the centrepiece of a charming old town full of important civil and religious buildings, the latter declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988.
Its current appearance constitutes the earliest, and perhaps the best, example of English Gothic.
The city is very easy to visit and all the monumental areas are pedestrianised, with medieval streets and pretty little houses overlooking the River Stour, amid shops, bars and restaurants of all kinds.
Kent is one of the leading universities in the UK. The campus is typically English in style, with modern and welcoming surroundings for study, activities and sport. It is situated in a scenic location on the hillside above Canterbury, within easy reach and well connected to the city centre. It boasts large communal areas, spacious and bright classrooms, several common rooms used for afternoon and evening social activities, and indoor and outdoor sports facilities such as football, basketball, volleyball and rugby fields. There are also bars, shops, a laundry, a bookstore and a bank on campus.
The residential area is located within the campus and is organised in flats with approximately 14 single rooms with private bathrooms and a shared kitchen and relaxation area in each flat.
The campus is also equipped with free Wi-Fi, a 24-hour video surveillance system and a secure flat access system.
The English language course is taught by native speakers who are highly qualified in teaching English to foreigners. During the first day of class, students will take a language proficiency test in order to be placed in the class most suited to their level. Classes are organised by level, from elementary to advanced (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1).
There are 15 hours of lessons per week. Classes are held from Monday to Friday, alternating weeks in the morning or afternoon. Each class consists of a maximum of 15 students.
The classrooms are comfortable and bright, equipped with Wi-Fi, projectors and multimedia boards. Textbooks and teaching materials are provided directly by the school.
At the end of the course each student will receive a Certificate attesting to the level of language proficiency achieved.
